Marble fireplaces were seen as status symbols for those privileged to own them. 

With the arrival of tall ships, merchants sailed all over the known world bringing back the finest marble.

This was then worked by the best craftsmen in Europe and turned into spectacular fireplaces / chimney pieces.

These were often used as a status symbol for those privileged enough to have commissioned one.

Many of these materials are sadly no longer available.

Exquisite Marble fireplaces represent European craftsmanship at its pinnacle and since some of the marble is no longer available, they are truly unique.
